Questions people actually ask
What counts as a submission?
One submission = one document sent to one or more signers, regardless of how many signatures it contains. Sending the same contract to 3 signers is 1 submission, not 3. Resending to the same signers for reminders doesn't count.
What happens if I exceed my monthly submissions?
We don't block you. Overage is charged at the rate shown for your plan ($0.50 → $0.20 per submission depending on tier) and appears on your next invoice. You can set spending caps in your dashboard.
Can I change plans anytime?
Yes. Upgrade or downgrade instantly. Upgrades prorate immediately. Downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle so you don't lose what you've already paid for.
How does the payments feature work today?
Add a payment field to any template. Signers enter card or ACH details inline with signing. Connect your own Stripe account via API keys — funds settle directly to your Stripe balance. You pay standard Stripe fees (2.9% + 30¢ cards, 0.8% capped ACH). SpitShake charges no additional fee on payments today. A managed Stripe Connect option with one-click onboarding is on the roadmap — join the waitlist above.
Is there a free trial for paid plans?
No trial needed — start on Free (25 submissions/mo) and upgrade when you outgrow it. Paid plans kick in the first time you hit the upgrade button.
Do you offer a HIPAA BAA?
Yes. BAA is included on Enterprise, or available as a $199/mo add-on on Growth and Business. We sign standard BAAs and custom DPAs on Enterprise.
Can I self-host SpitShake?
Yes, on Enterprise. SpitShake is open-source and we offer commercial self-hosted licensing with support, updates, and a signed DPA. Contact sales for pricing.
What if I need more than 250K submissions per month?
That's Enterprise-committed-volume territory. We'll design a custom plan with single-tenant infrastructure, dedicated incident response, and volume pricing from $0.05/submission.
